Paediatric dentistry

Friendly, child-oriented care from baby teeth through to fissure sealants.

What is it?

Paediatric dentistry is a field specialised in caring for the youngest patients' teeth — from a friendly first visit, through prevention, to fissure sealants and, where needed, treatment of baby teeth.

Who is it for?

Recommended for every child, ideally from the time the baby teeth first appear, so that the dental practice becomes associated with a familiar, friendly place for them rather than with pain.

How does it work?

The first visits are mainly about getting acquainted and learning correct toothbrushing in a playful way. Once the permanent back teeth erupt, typically around age 6, we assess whether fissure sealants are needed — a fluoride-containing material that protects the chewing surface of the tooth from decay.

What to expect afterwards?

We recommend a check-up frequency based on the child's age and dental situation, and we also give parents practical advice to support oral care at home.
